Stay Connected. Fashionably.

I will be the first to admit that up until I entered the Iphone world, I was a cell phone case junkie collector. It all started in my earlier years when the DIY ("do it yourself"= bad idea) bejeweled sets came out - I bought it, blinged my Motorola flip phone out and I haven't been the same girl since. I'm not sure if it's my love for fashion that has my mind semi-warped when it comes to phone cases, but I look at them as if they're clothes for phones...am I the only one that feels that way? If you say yes, well then you're probably lying to yourself. Which is why I have gone through and gathered up 8 of my favorite cell cases to share. Enjoy!

What to Wear: Wedding

Wedding season is upon us my friends and being a female I know it's always a slippery slope when it comes to picking an outfit for such an occasion. Constant rules and regulations going through our minds on what not to do and wear that we forget what we can do and wear. Here are 9 easy tips to remember when it comes to dressing for a wedding:

1.) Don't try to show up the bride, it's her day...not yours.
2.) Avoid wearing white, ivory, etc. You can do it for this one occasion, I believe in you.
3.) No sexy, skimpy clothing. Leave that for the weekends.
4.) Personally, I tend to stay with solids but if you go for patterns keep it on the softer side rather than the bolder side of things.
5.) I love denim, we all love denim...but not for weddings.
6.) It may be chilly out, bring a cardigan or a shawl but not a hoodie, I repeat, no hoodie.
7.) Be careful with the plunging necklines. But, don't even think about venturing into that territory without undergarments.
8.) Simple Beauty. Keep hair and makeup natural.
9.) Relax. All eyes will not be on you because it's not your day.

With all of that being said, that doesn't mean you still can't be fashionable. From afternoon to evening "I do's" here are some chic head-to-toe ensembles to help you stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons.

A Little Color Never Hurt Anyone

I have always been that girl who looks through magazines and turns down the corner to the things that I must have or scribbles all throughout planning my dream wardrobe or dream home. I recently moved, which means I'm having to re-decorate everything all over again and my habit for page turning has become worse! I will spend hours on end looking at new inspiration for my home, but in reality I do not have the pockets for it. Thanks to these little things called bills. I tend to stay with neutrals throughout my home, but this season I want to do something to bring Spring indoors & on an affordable budget. I have come across several easy ways to add color to any home, whether you're on a budget or not.

Change up your pillows.
Crazy colors & patterns are fun to use because they're not permanent.

Add a bold rug.
Rugs are the best way to add color or change color in a room, it can take a house and make it a home.

Fresh flowers.
Fresh flowers breathe new life into any space.

Frame pieces of fabric.
Art doesn't have to be expensive. A simple piece of fabric framed and hung on the wall can be an excellent alternative to a costly painting or print.

Bring new life to furniture.
Do you have a piece of furniture just sitting in the corner? Slap a fresh coat of paint on it and make it part of your home, again.

Paint a canvas.
There's nothing better than to hang a 'piece of art' in your home that holds meaning.

Met Gala Goodness

Every year I look forward to the Met Gala only to see the crazy, stunning, awful and disgraceful dresses and let's be honest, there were more worst dressed stars than best dressed this year. But, hey it made the handful of fashion highlights truly stand out.

The theme and dress code for the night was the technologically advanced couturier Charles James and white tie. Who is Charles James? He was a British-born fashion designer known as "America's First Couturier".  He was known for his structural aesthetics, and by judging from last night a lot of stars got it right. Now, that's not saying they were one of the best dressed, they just understood the concept. The top trends that were spotted along the red carpet were the muted tones of Spring and the classic look of black & white.

From the top fashion standouts, it was difficult to narrow down my faves, which is why I compiled a list of my top ten best dressed looks. But only one took home the grand prize, and that would be Blake Lively. She looked absolutely amazing in this form-fitting Gucci gown. The return of the blonde bombshell? I think so.
My honorable mentions go out to...

Reese Witherspoon

Suki Waterhouse

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Hailee Steinfeld

Emma Stone

Jessica Alba

Sarah Jessica Parker

Leighton Meester

Karolina Kurkova

What's In a Name

If you're anything like me, you come across blogs where it leaves you wondering about how/why they chose the name that they did. It's always in the back of my mind until I figure out the reason why. So today, I thought I would break down the meaning and reason as to why I chose the name southern babble. Let's take it from the top with southern. I am from the South, have always lived in the South, and people tend to tell me I have a case of the "southern drawl", so why wouldn't I go with it? Finding the other half to the name was kind of difficult, reason being nothing really seemed to fit me and/or fit the reason why I wanted to start blogging in the first place. I got to thinking of what words describe me, what do I love to do..which led me to the word, babble. I. love. to. talk. all. the. time. So what exactly does babble mean? Well, I am here to tell you that the true textbook definition of babble is "someone who talks rapidly and continuously in an excited or comprehensible way". Making the word babble fit me to a capital T. So the overall meaning of Southern babble is basically a southern individual who loves to talk even when they're the only one listening, and if that doesn't describe me then I don't know what does! And that my friends is how I came up with southern babble.

Hello, Blog World

After years of "blog stalking" I have finally given in to the hobby. With Summer being just around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to begin my very first blog, centered around things that I love, and sharing that with other people.  Hope you enjoy!
